Maasstroompjes: Rotterdam's own biscuit since 1934

Butter biscuits with a stripe of almond paste, baked to the original recipe from almost a century ago.

Every city has its biscuit. Since 1934 Rotterdam has had the Maasstroompjes: butter biscuits with a stripe of almond paste, named after the river that flows through the city.

The recipe hasn't changed in all those years. The biscuits are still baked the way their inventor intended: butter, almond and a shape you recognise at once.

For us that's why the Maasstroompjes go into the Maasstad Box: it's the product that places your box firmly in the city, even before anyone has tasted a thing.

They're also simply good with coffee. A small gesture, a big Rotterdam feeling.
